Litter around Castlerea Town was criticised at the recent Roscommon Municipal District meeting. MD Cathaoirleach Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice said that businesses and people had been contacting him about the amount of littering in the town. “They do great work, but we did have a second person,” the Fianna Fáil councillor said. That’s a sad situation.”He asked MD co-ordinator Tom McDermott if a member of staff could be sourced for this role. Mr McDermott said that staffing levels were down currently but that the town’s 21 bins were emptied every day, including weekends.
