While various other nations around the world have gleefully announced plans to broadcast matches from the upcoming World Cup football (AKA ‘soccer’…) tournament in Russia, it’s all been miserably quiet on the UK front. For this weekend the BBC - with, typically, pretty much zero fanfare - delivered its first live public 4K sport stream. “We’re always looking to provide our audiences with the best possible viewing experience, and live UHD could be the next step in that journey. Though having said that, the BBC iPlayer is already used to pretty heavy use by ‘catch up app’ standards.
