Nearly three years after the devastating crowd crush at Travis Scott's Astroworld Festival claimed the lives of ten concertgoers, event promoter Live Nation has settled nine of the ten wrongful death lawsuits filed after the tragedy. As these settlements are being finalized, the Justice Department announced its intention last month to sue Live Nation for antitrust violations. The lawsuit is expected to claim that Live Nation "has leveraged its dominance in a way that undermined competition for ticketing events," resulting in a near-monopoly in the live events industry. During a pretrial hearing on May 8, Live Nation representatives confirmed settlements in nine of the ten wrongful death cases. Several lawsuits were consolidated for pretrial hearings, involving defendants such as Apple, Live Nation, Travis Scott, and various subcontractors.
