Live updates: Universities already grappling with coronavirus issues and classes have barely started

A Mississippi school’s entire fourth-grade class is under a two-week quarantine after a student and multiple teachers tested positive for the coronavirus. The families of more than 200 fourth graders at Lafayette Upper Elementary School were directed to quarantine over the weekend, Lafayette County School District Superintendent Adam Pugh told the Associated Press. He said one student and six fourth-grade teachers were infected, and most of the other fourth-grade teachers were exposed, leaving the Oxford, Miss., school without enough staff for in-person classes. All students were set to come back to school together for the first time on Aug. 24; Pugh told the Associated Press that date is now being pushed to September. The district is already mourning one member of its community who died this month while quarantining with coronavirus symptoms, the Associated Press noted.
