London Marathon organisers insist they have not given up hope of running the race in October despite growing fears amid the ongoing pandemic. Concerns have escalated that the event will be limited only to the elite races on October 4, with obvious challenges around social distancing having already led to this week's confirmation that the Great North Run will not be going ahead. 'There has been much speculation that this means the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon will also be cancelled. 'The team has been looking at the logistics and coming up with innovative ways to socially distance the event. 'While some may think what we are trying to do on Sunday 4 October is impossible, we will not give up hope.'
