French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday accepted the resignation of the head of Paris's Louvre Museum, which has been grappling with the fallout from a high-profile jewel heist and rolling strikes. Ticket fraud scheme allegedEarlier this month, French police detained several people as part of an investigation into a Louvre ticket fraud that may have cost the world's most visited museum 10 million euros ($16.15 million Cdn) in revenues. One piece — Eugénie's emerald-set imperial crown, with more than 1,300 diamonds — was later found outside the museum, damaged but recoverable. The robbery highlighted the fact the museum has been plagued by security shortgaps, an issue it was in the midst of addressing. Last month, the Louvre raised ticket prices by 45 per cent for most non-European Union tourists to help finance renovations.
