Ludhiana University's V-C removed over 'misbehaviour' with Kashmiri students

CT University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Nitin Tandon was removed on Tuesday (February 24, 2026), following allegations of misbehaving with a group of Kashmiri students, Chancellor Charanjit Singh Channi said. However, Mr. Tandon used abusive language against them and threatened to cancel their admissions, they alleged. The students held a protest in the university and raised slogans against Mr. Tandon. Ms. Iltija shared on X a video of the Kashmiri students who alleged misbehaviour by the V-C and demanded that the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann take action in the matter. Universities are meant to be safe and inclusive spaces that uphold constitutional values, dignity and equal treatment for all, irrespective of region, religion, or background, Mr. Khuehami said.
