Judging Luis Diaz's second full season at Liverpool will likely depend on how you view the player in more general terms. That came a little over a month after Diaz's 'goal' was wrongly chalked off for one of the worst errors in the history of VAR-assisted fixtures in the top flight. VAR's images later showed Diaz was not in fact offside but the goal was still not allowed to stand. Liverpool, who finished the game with nine men and lost 2-1 thanks to stoppage-time own goal, were understandably furious. Perhaps the performance that best encapsulated the conundrum around Diaz, however, was the 1-1 draw with Manchester City in March.
