Shamsuddoha, who had been a director to the bank since 2016, was appointed as its chairman on Wednesday. Alluding to a possible paradigm shift, she pledged to brighten the bank’s image that is currently marred by loan-related scams. “We all know the situation (of the banking sector). Challenges and problems are there as our economy is growing and the banking sector is also expanding.”“But we need to overcome that. If banks do well, the country will do well,” she said adding that the general people mostly make up Janata Bank’s client pool.
