The business was founded in 1986 by pâtissiers Rolf Kern and Gabi Kohler, with the intention of crafting premium chocolates. ‌The company became the capital's largest manufacturer of luxury chocolates, producing over 300 tonnes annually from its 25,000 sqft premises in Park Royal. The closure is part of a prepack administration agreement that will see Prestat taken over by chocolate manufacturer L'Artisan du Chocolat, which is owned by Polus Capital Management.
