A prominent MIT researcher is defending himself and his team’s research against an accusation that they misled the scientific community about the discovery of two drugs in development, including a treatment for the flu virus that has attracted federal funding. The influenza and Zika treatments under scrutiny were described in research conducted by Dr. Ram Sasisekharan and a team at his bioengineering lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and developed at companies he co-founded.
