MLB Might Be Increasing Minor League Pay, And That's A Good Thing


The gap in lifestyle and working conditions between minor and major league baseball players might finally be set to close just a little. ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported Monday that Major League Baseball is exploring options to increase the salary of ballplayers in the minor leagues. Just what the new agreement would entail remains speculative, but it can be safely guessed that a unilateral increase in minor league salaries will be included. A few million dollars per franchise could significantly raise the income of each minor league player in the team’s system. And for now at least, it would potentially be a competitive advantage for a ballclub to pay its minor leaguers more.
