As they slept, a chemical had spilled from the local MNG Gold mining site into their stream. MNG –Gold is a Turkish Mining company extracting gold in several parts of Kokoyah District in Bong County. MNG - Gold initially took the affected residents to a nearby clinic in the district and later forwarded them to the Phebe Hospital for further medical examination. According to Ngwayah, the damage to the wall storing the recycled processing chemical water has been repaired. This is the second report of a chemical spill in Kokoyah Statutory District since MNG Gold commenced operations in the district.
