Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali has said the protests that were witnessed last Friday at Shibale area by Mumias residents during opposition leader Raila Odinga’s tour of western were justified. Washiali said Mumias residents know very well that the ODM leader has debts at Mumias that he must pay. He said the demonstrations were just a real reflection of the bitterness Mumias residents have over Raila on the debts he owes the ailing Mumias sugar company. Speaking during the burial of Mary Wamalwa, mother of Matulo ward MCA Paul Wanyonyi, the MP said the residents were only expressing their anger with the Cord leader. Washiali said the opposition leader has been on the forefront in the war against corruption but wondered why he has never said anything regarding the miller.
