A Tory MP has accused “extreme nationalist-leaning individuals” in the Northern Ireland justice system of reigniting investigations into British veterans who served during the Troubles. Richard Benyon, who was in the British Army in Northern Ireland, said that many feared the investigations were “a form of retributive politics”. Mr Benyon said the director of public prosecutions had claimed that new evidence had come to light. He added: “Many fear that we are seeing a form of retributive politics here.
