Growing concerns surrounding the rising cost of energy and its impact on young people living and working in rural Ireland have been raised by Macra na Feirme. The rising price of fuel for agricultural vehicles is placing a significant burden on young farmers. Rising petrol and diesel costs are therefore having a direct and unavoidable impact on their daily lives." Macra national president Josephine O’Neill said the combined rise in fuel costs was creating real challenges for Ireland's rural youth and called for immediate action from the Government to ease the pressure. This unexpected and significant rise in fuel costs will further stretch already tight budgets.
