Madbouly orders tighter market inspections to ensure goods availability, fair pricing

Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, chaired a meeting of the Governors’ Council in the New Administrative Capital, stressing the need for intensified field monitoring of markets and commercial outlets to ensure the availability of goods at fair prices. Addressing the governors, Madbouly stressed their central role in coordinating with relevant ministries, authorities, and regulatory bodies to combat monopolistic practices and prevent deliberate hoarding of goods. The prime minister urged strict enforcement of all available mechanisms to protect citizens, including the possible referral of price manipulators to military courts, as directed by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. Awad said inspection teams across all governorates are conducting daily monitoring of markets to ensure the availability of commodities, maintain price balance, and prevent monopolistic practices. Farouk added that intensified oversight includes daily reporting on commodity quantities, monitoring sales outlets, facilitating the transportation of goods between governorates, and expanding “one-day market” initiatives to ensure fair pricing and broader access for citizens.
