During Dr. Bawumia’s campaign stop in the Western-North Region on Friday, May 3, 2024, the chief stated that Mr. Mahama, unlike the vice president, has a blemished record of failure as a former president. He thus rallied the chiefs to actively campaign against the former president in favour of Dr. Bawumia, who has yet to prove himself as president. Dr. Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, recently kicked off his official campaign for the 2024 general election. The vice president is likely to face several contenders, including former President Mahama, who has been re-elected as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress.
