Maharashtra declares three-day mourning on passing of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar


The Maharashtra government on Wednesday (January 28, 2026) announced a three-day mourning as a mark of respect on the passing away of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief and said it is a very difficult day for Maharashtra. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and I will leave for Baramati. Mr. Shinde on Wednesday (January 28, 2026) described the death of his fellow Deputy Mr. Ajit Pawar as sad and unfortunate and said the aircraft accident that claimed his life will be probed.
