In a bid to crack down on the sale of illegal liquor, Maharashtra government has come up with a notification under which a person will be allowed to possess only two bottles of country liquor. Excise Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said, "This decision is being taken to check the sale of spurious and illicit liquor, especially toddy. The liquor shop owner will be given a year's time to shift within and won't be charged any fees. And in case if the shop owner fails to do so , this may lead to cancellation of licence.
