But many working in the sector branded the law confusing and said it would hit the local economy hard. Frank Thew, 63, a British barman who has lived in Majorca for 11 years and works in the Corner Bar in Palma, said the new regulations were ridiculous. “If it wasn’t for the tourists, Majorca would be a big fishing village,” he said.
