But Hancock told Sophy Ridge on Sky that he has a "high degree of confidence" that the vaccine protects against it. "In Bolton, we have seen number of people in hospital with the variant. But the minister also told BBC's Andrew Marr today that one particularly "frail" patient in hospital with the Indian variant has had both vaccines. 18 people are receiving hospital treatment with the strain, a further five of whom have had one dose of the jab, he said.
