Cosimo Cavallaro is countering U.S. president Donald Trump’s demands for a border wall with spoiled cheese. On Monday afternoon, the Montreal-born artist began construction on a colossal cheese wall along the Mexico–U.S. The construction site is a stone’s throw from the actual border, in Tecate, Calif.“A cheese wall is something I’ve wanted to do for 20 years. The concept of a using cheese to construct the wall draws on the expertise of his grandfathers, Cavallaro explains: One was a stonemason, the other a cook. Cavallaro currently has funding for 200 blocks (eight metres of wall) and is crowdfunding the remainder via his website, cheesewall.com.
