MALACCA: The state government has softened its stance on dog ownership at intermediate terrace houses, with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron instructing all local councils to issue dog licences until a win-win solution is found. Malacca, which bans residents in intermediate terrace houses from keeping dogs, has been flayed for the ruling which came about in 2013. The ruling on dog ownership at terrace houses came about following increasing complaints about vicious dogs and loud barkings, he said. Dog owner P. Gunasegaran, 54, from Ayer Keroh, said he was happy that he could renew his dog licence. Lee said dog owners, especially those living in terrace houses, would be relieved with the latest development on the issue.
