MALAKAND: 346 people committed suicide in the seven districts of Malakand dvision within the past eight months. Swat saw the highest number of suicides with 222 cases while Buner saw 73 and Shangla experience 26 cases. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government had previously taken notice of increasing number of suicide cases in Chitral. According to Chitral district nazim Maghfirat Shah, 70 per cent of the 12 suicide cases in the last six months were women. Domestic issues were among the leading causes behind the over-representation of women in suicide cases.
