United Democratic Movement Secretary General Ceophas Malala has slammed the Orange Democratic Movement for cracking the whip on rebel members. Malala went bare-knuckle on the opposition outfit branding it the "Orange Dictatorship Movement (ODM) where Democracy, freedom of thought and association is a capital offence". It followed a move by the Raila Odinga-led party to expel five rebel MPs whom it accused of associating with the Kenya Kwanza government. Those expelled are Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o (Lang'ata), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda. The party also fined Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris Sh250,000 for defying the party position and voting for the Finance Bill, 2023 (now an Act).
