Malaysia not going to be 'sold out' through FDI, assures Zahid

BAGAN DATUK: Malaysia is not going to be "sold out" or colonised by China through foreign direct investments (FDI), Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today. In dismissing claims by critics that such was a new form of colonisation, Zahid said investments from China only accounted for 3.3 per cent of the overall FDI in Malaysia. "There is no way that China can conquer us (with the investments) but they would like to conduct business with us. "I have discussed security issues with China, but as they were aware that Bagan Datuk was recently announced a new district, they expressed their interest to invest big money here. "As a Bagan Datuk son, I know the struggles faced by the people here.
