Two-cars were involved in the collision, with the driver of one vehicle, a man in his late 60s, pronounced dead at the scene. The scene was cordoned off and preserved to allow for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. A total of 42 people had died in road traffic incidents in the same period last year.
