The Daily Mail report that Villa are holding out for a nice round £100m for their captain and are happy to reject any less. In fact, Villa are hoping to take Grealish’s mind off a move entirely by offering him a new contract worth around £150,000-a-week. Villa manager Dean Smith has not commented recently, but as speculation swirled at the end of last season, he felt that Grealish was committed to the project ongoing at the club. ‘I’ve not risen to any speculation regarding Jack at all this season – he has been injured for the last 12 games,’ said Smith in May.
