The 26-year-old joined City from Monaco in the summer of 2017 after playing a pivotal role in the French club’s unlikely run to the Champions League semi-finals, which saw them knock out his current club en route. According the Athletic, however, Silva was left devastated after a proposed move to Barcelona broke down nearly 12 months ago and the 26-year-old is again seeking a fresh challenge. As well as Silva, fellow high-profile stalwarts Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling have been linked with departures during the close season. England international Sterling, who scored The Three Lions’ winner in their Euro 2020 opener against Croatia on Sunday, has entered the final two years of his current contract.
