Manchester United have reportedly altered their transfer plans for the final few days of the window as a result of Mason Greenwood and the decision not to reintegrate him back into the squad. The 21-year-old has not played for the Red Devils since January 2022, though after an internal investigation, the club decided against bringing him back this season to compete under Erik ten Hag . The final call was confirmed on August 16, deep into the summer as United’s transfer plans were well underway - having already signed Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund. Signing another forward marks a significant change from their previous reported plan of attack, with Ten Hag and co keen to land a midfielder and emergency left-back on deadline day. The club have been hampered by Financial Fair Play constraints and have now been forced to fork out for another forward, with no guarantee that another club will pay for Greenwood before Friday’s deadline.
