Chile international Sanchez, who joined United from Arsenal in January 2018, has endured a poor season at Old Trafford, contributing just two goals. A number of players look rejuvenated under caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but Sanchez has continued to struggle. Asked to explain Sanchez’s dip in form, Arsenal hero Merson told Sky Sports: ‘I hope we see the old Sanchez, but I don’t see the confidence or the hunger in his eyes anymore. ‘The first thought that used to come to mind when you mentioned Alexis Sanchez was that he worked his socks off, he put a shift in.
