Lifeguards gave the 34-year-old "potentially life-saving first aid" on Ainsdale Beach in Merseyside yesterday evening. Paramedics arrived and an air ambulance landed on the busy coast to help treat the man. All but one of the man's friends left his side as the police arrived at the scene, The Liverpool Echo reports. "Despite the male being left with potentially serious injuries, apart from one person, his friends abandoned him, as Roads Policing Units arrived at the scene. According to Visit Southport, Ainsdale Beach is one of the UK's "premier beaches" for kite surfing, and it is a popular spot for extreme sports lovers.
