A man has serious injuries after accidently shooting himself in the leg on Saturday afternoon. Police were initially called to a firearms incident in Wellsford, about an hour north of Auckland's CBD, about 12:10pm. "Ambulance staff at the scene have advised us that he has serious but not life-threatening injuries," a spokeswoman said. The injured man would be airlifted to hospital.
