KOTA KINABALU: Police have arrested a 62-year-old Pakistani businessman who allegedly threatened to hijack a plane at the international airport here on Friday. The man, who is accused of having uttered the words “I am going to hijack your airplane” to airline staff who asked him for his passport was arrested as he boarded a flight to Bandar Seri Begawan. He was escorted off the plane by security personnel on the orders of the captain of the flight after airline staff informed him of the hijack threat, said Kota Kinabalu City police chief Asst Comm M. Chandra. ACP Chandra said initial investigations showed that airline staff requested politely for the passport to be shown before allowing the passenger to board the plane. However, the man had become irritated and angry and purportedly issued the threat to hijack the aircraft.
