A YOUNG man has been charged with assault causing harm to his mother after she was left fighting for her life from stab injuries. The young man did not speak during the brief court hearing. Mr Taaffe said his client had been in receipt of psychiatric care for some time and had been treated within a community context. Judge McNulty also granted free legal aid having heard that Mr Coughlan is currently in receipt of a disability allowance. He remanded the young man to appear again before Bandon District Court on Friday (June 11).
