Man drinking outside 2km limit hurled abuse when challenged

A construction worker who went drinking in Dublin city centre outside the 2km Covid-19 lockdown travel zone hurled abuse at gardaí who challenged him. He was not charged with any offence in relation to being outside the 2km limit. Dublin District Court heard gardaí saw the accused drinking with another man at the boardwalk at Eden Quay last April 18. The garda informed him he could not be more than 2km from his home at which Connolly became threatening and abusive. Connolly accepted he was outside the 2km and that it was incorrect for him to go drinking after work.
