The Berge Rishiri, Photo: TwitterA search for a man thought to have fallen overboard from a bulk carrier off the coast of Otago has been suspended as cold southern waters are believed to have claimed his life. The crew searched the vessel and the ship returned along its track to search for any signs of the missing man in the water. "A cold-water survivability expert engaged by RCCNZ believes there is little chance the person would have survived," the statement said. The shipping agent for the Berge Rishiri, the ship involved, declined to comment until they had more information. From there it was scheduled to arrive at North Port on Saturday after which it would depart to sea.
