Werner joined Chelsea in 2020 for a fee of around £55m, when the Blues hijacked Liverpool’s deal to sign the German. However, Werner struggled in England despite his obvious talent, and he returned to Germany after scoring 23 goals in 89 appearances at Stamford Bridge. According to the Athletic, that’s seen United open talks with Leipzig to discover the conditions for a deal to sign Werner.
