The Dutchman joined United from Ajax in a £40m deal last summer but he failed to find his feet at Old Trafford, making just four Premier League starts all season. The Netherlands’ international scored his only goal for the club on his Premier League debut in a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace last September and he missed the European Championships through injury to top off a torrid campaign. Real Madrid were keen on signing van de Beek last summer but were pipped to the signing by United, who were in a better financial situation than the La Liga giants during the height of the pandemic. Reports suggest United would recoup most of their outlay on van de Beek and the Daily Star claim the Red Devils are now ready to accept the offer.
