Potter managed James during his time at Swansea and he feels the rapid wide man could help his goal-shy side next term. The Welshman turns 24 in November and though he feels he can contribute at Old Trafford, he now faces even greater competition from Jadon Sancho following the winger’s £73m arrival from Dortmund. United could feasibly raise in excess of around £20m for James, which would cover more than a quarter of the money they’ve splashed out on Sancho. Should the Frenchman arrive, Solskjaer will then turn his attention to signing Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier.
