He said also in the vicinity of the station was the 50-year-old defendant. The court heard the men briefly exchanged words outside the station before the complainant pushed O'Connor away. The defendant responded by punching his victim to the face causing him to crash to the pavement. He said his client had attended a work do on the night in question where he "drank far more than intended" and "lost control".
