Many Malaysians against idea of new car venture - Nation

PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s announcement in Tokyo regarding a new national car company has sparked intense discussion among Malaysians, most of whom are strongly against the idea of such a venture. Meanwhile, Janice Leong petitioned for apps that showed accurate, real-time arrival and departure times of public transport, especially for RapidKL. “Efficiency and a more synergistic network of public transport will suffice,” she added. It was also a “no” from Stephen Chua, who pointed out that Thailand has a strong auto industry despite not having a national car. However, some Malaysians still voiced their support for the idea, with a fair few advocating for electric cars.
