Chip Somodevilla/Getty ImageFacebook rolled out a new Facebook News section Friday, a tab in the mobile app that is dedicated solely to news articles. “This is going to be the first time ever that there is a dedicated place in the app that’s focused on high-quality journalism,” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said at an event in New York City with News Corp chief executive Robert Thomson. Zuckerberg said he predicts 20 million to 30 million people could use the tab in a few years. Facebook has hired a team of journalists to help curate major national stories that will populate the Today’s Stories, one of four sections in the tab. Facebook faced a torrent of criticism during the 2016 presidential election for perceived liberal bias in its Trending News section.
