Maroc Telecom continues its regional expansion plan with the acquisition of Millicom’s subsidiary Tigo Chad, the leading telecoms operator in the Sub-Saharan country. The transaction will only be complete after receiving the green light of regulatory bodies in Chad. The Morocco-based group has subsidiaries in Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Togo and the Central African Republic. For its part, the Luxembourg-based Millicom said the sale comes as it shifts focus to South America. The Moroccan telecoms company announced a rise in its 2018 profits, which stood at 6 billion dirhams.
