Maryland is repaving 4 miles of the Beltway

(Robert Thomson/The Washington Post)The Maryland State Highway Administration is resurfacing the Capital Beltway between New Hampshire Avenue and Route 1 in a project scheduled to be done late this fall. The work is scheduled to be done overnight Sundays through Thursdays, when drivers may find two lanes closed. Highway officials suggest that tractor-trailer drivers find overnight parking at the Hyattstown, Frederick or Upper Marlboro weigh stations. Day crew works overnight to pave Greenbelt Road in Prince George’s County. During the upcoming lane closings, the workers will patch the roadway, remove the top layer of asphalt, apply new asphalt and install new pavement markings.
