Freddie Andersen and Jake Gardiner joined Auston Matthews in missing practice Friday, but Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock chalked up Andersen and Gardiner’s absence as “maintenance days.”Matthews, meanwhile, is “day to day,” Babcock said. “If he’s ready to go, he’s ready to go ... the kid wants to play. Matthews missed Wednesday’s win over Minnesota, the first game he’s missed in his career with the Leafs. Andersen injured his arm in the win over the Wild, but pronounced himself fine after the game. The Leafs had goaltender coach Steve Briere fill in at practice for Andersen.
