Theresa May came under pressure last night to block David Cameron’s resignation honours list after Labour’s deputy leader said that the awards would undermine her reputation. Past convention has been that prime ministers do not block the nominations of their predecessors in resignation honours lists. However, only the serving prime minister can make recommendations for honours to the Queen, placing Mrs May in an awkward position.
