The Mayo senior football team’s kit van has been hit with a one-match ban and will not have access to MacHale Park for Sunday’s Connacht football semi-final with Leitrim. While the inconvenience is largely negligible for this fixture, the fact that Connacht GAA has felt compelled to deal with this, so soon after last year’s breach, does not reflect well. Mayo GAA has stated that each team on the day only had the specified 40 in the controlled zone and each had access by ticket. “All those who attended the recent Connacht Championship game of Mayo versus Sligo attended the game via a match ticket. All vehicles were cleared by Connacht GAA and only those on the access list were allowed to enter the controlled zone.”
