Removing that portion of the Gardiner as Keesmaat proposes would create 12 acres of developable land. Besides being the better city-building option, Keesmaat said, the boulevard remains significantly less expensive to build and maintain. The time savings for a small number of commuters would be insignificant, while the savings that could be achieved from the boulevard option are huge, she said.
